Barry Gill |
I'm trying to contact a former
shipmate of my brother. All I have is a name, Barry Gill, and
he was probably on Sydney around '68-'70. My brother was a
birdie (Handler) so I assume Mr Gill was as well.
Thanks,

Wayne Wakefield |
I am trying to contact Ord Steward
Wakefield, Wayne who was drafted from HMAS Melbourne to HMAS
Sydney in 1971. Sqeaker did 3 trips to Nam before leaving the
ship for his course.
He was a member of the 32nd Intake of JR's in July 1970. As
far as I know he went back to Tassie on discharge.
Apart from Wayne, any members of the 32nd Intake would be
greeted, I was trying to get all these blokes together before
our 40th Anniversary in July this year.
Ex 32nd JRTE
HMAS Sydney (2L2 Stokers Mess) until ship paid off.

Shane Logan |
I am trying to contact a distant
relative Shane Logan. The only reference I have of him is from
a Xmas card (probably 1976) sent to us by his Auntie Dorothy
Clayton (nee Logan) where she states when mentioning the Xmas
- New Year celebrations " all our family will be there with
the exception of my nephew Shane Logan who usually spends Xmas
with us if he is in Aust. but who serves on the H.M.A.S.
Sydney in charge of the engine room, at the moment is up in
the gulf has been there for the last 7 months cleaning up."
I take it from that she is referring to the clean up after the
Darwin cyclone but am a but unsure of that because I see that
H.M.A.S. Sydney was de-commissioned in 1973.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Wallace Logan

Jack
Bartimote is seeking Old Shipmates |
I'm seeking
shipmates who were on HMAS SYDNEY in Vung Tau between 4th and
6th May 1966 and also 6th and 8th June 1966.
I was an OD at
the time involved in dog bodies duties.
We were moving
an electric motor which slipped out the sling crashing two of
us to the deck. I can't remember the other blokes name. I
recieved a back injury. It wasn't reported as I was told to
get up and get on with it.
This injury is
well recorded with subsequent flare ups documented in my naval
medical records and now I'm restricted to using a walking
stick.
DVA won't
entertain my claim without a witness.
If you can help
please call me on 0409 515 441 or send an email to:

Unfortunately my uncle has passed away and I never got to ask
him about those days in the navy. Any help would be greatly
