ALLEN PORTER:
Joined the RAN 23/10/1945.
Rank: RCT/ST (Seaman Torpedo Man Electrician) HMAS CERBERUS.
FEB 1946: Posted HMAS HOBART (Cruiser) via ships cutter from Stony Point Victoria, as an ORD/ST2 promoted to ORD/ST. Hobart served as a Naval unit of BCOF Japan.
May 1947: Posted HMAS DELORAINE (corvette) AB/ST. Sweeping of WWII mines.
Nov 1947: Changed Branch to Naval Airman Photographer.
Nov 1947: A member of the first Naval Photographer class at East sale RAAF base. The RAN photographer’s branch, was the first Naval Air branch, to wear their right arm rates.
June 1948: Travelled by sea in HMAS KIMBLA to UK for training, prior to joining HMAS SYDNEY III crew (Carrier). Posted HMS GLORY (UK) sister ship to SYDNEY III for training.
Posted HMS PEREGINE, RN Air Station for further training in branch
16 Dec 1948: Posted for commissioning of HMAS SYDNEY III, Devonport UK.
May 1950: Posted HMAS TOBRUK, Battle Class Destroyer for commissioning,
June 1950: Photographed gunnery trials and the operation of the top secret fly plane predictor in TOBRUK.

Posted at various times to HMAS ALBATROSS RAN Air Station.
