Subject: Agent Orange-Contaminated
Water
For the attention of
the CEO RSL (Vic)
For information: Major
General D McLachlan AO President RSL (Vic)
With reference to my
emails of the 10th, 15th and 17th of April 2006 in which I
requested the support of the State RSL on the issue of water
contamination due to agent orange.
This is an issue which
may have affected over 13,000 former members of the RAN and over
7,500 members of the Army and RAAF who were transported back to
Australia from Vietnam during the years 1965-1972 aboard HMAS
Sydney.
I am in receipt of a
rather cursory response from the former CEO, Brigadier J P
Deighton sent on the 10th of April 2006 which simply stated that
he would raise my concerns with the State Executive of the RSL at
their next meeting. I have not heard anything since.
Would you please do me
the courtesy of a considered response at your earliest
convenience, as this issue has very wide ramifications for those
that it concerns the most, former members of the ADF who are, in
the main, members of the RSL as well.
Regards
