Dear John,
My email of the 10th failed to spell out the numbers of former
service persons involved in the very important issue of water
contamination. Besides the numbers of sailors involved, which, by
DVA figures, is in the vicinity of 13,000, added to this are the
following and the units in which they served, and the voyage upon
which they were transported back to Australia aboard HMAS Sydney.

Trip 16. Feb./March 1970 500+ 5RAR
Trip 17. October/November 1970 500+ 8RAR
Trip 18. Feb./March 1971 500+ 7RAR
Trip 20. May/June 1971 500+ 2RAR
Trip 21. Sept./October 1971 500+ 3RAR
Trip 22. Oct./November 1971 Army Support Units

Ships Army staff total of 64 for all 25 trips undertaken by HMAS
Sydney.
This issue affects some 13, 000+ members of the RAN. It may also
affect in the vicinity of 7,000 to 7,500 members of the Army and an
unknown number of personnel from the RAAF.
I hope you and your State Executive can give this issue your
unqualified support when next you meet.
